The THA Section 8 Program administers the Homeownership Program. Partnerships have developed with the Tallahassee Lenders Consortium for down payment assistance to eligible applicants and the Neighborhood Housing and Development Corporation, located in Gainesville, Florida to provide second mortgages for eligible participants. Upon becoming eligible for a mortgage and purchasing a home, THA will make monthly payments on behalf of the family to the lender. The amount of the assistance is similar to the rental program and is based upon the family’s income and the relationship of the mortgage amount and payment standard. Subsidy could last up to 15 years or until such time that no THA funds are being contributed.
